Assignment #7.2: Style-Based Layout

Values

Colours

There are two main light sources; one from the sun roof and the other from the stairs entryway. The sun roof's light is reflected on the tree brances and leaves, while the light from the entryway lights up the stairs and the small open corners of the roof.

The speculars can be found on the wooden rods from the roof's structure, as well as on the leaves from their grey container.

The focus point is mainly on the tree, and it's been centered and almost framed by the sun roof's structure for emphasis.

There's a bit of a warped 3 point perspective in this layout, nothing strict.

There are elements of rim light on the tree branches, the leaves and the edge of the plant container.

I played around with a more cool coloured hue, but added a little bit of an orange to add to the brightness of the light sources. The earlier versions of this layout were more desaturated, but in order to put a bit more energy into the grey environment, I intensified the blue overlay that I had.

Assignment #7.1: Hit the Streets

Location: SFU
Style: Artist Pascal Campion

So I had originally wanted to head over to English Bay to take pictures of the candle lighting vigil that was to take place there on Saturday, but unfortunately I wasn't able to attend. So the next day, I headed off to SFU based on my father's suggestion. It's a gorgeous campus, but I had forgotten how gorgeous it was until I visited it again that day. Too bad my camera didn't take very bright pictures(forgot to turn on the flash). I'll probably head over there for more pictures if I have to later on.

As for the style, I had originally wanted to do something kind of Art Deco-ish, until I actually ended up going on location. There I realized it wouldn't really work with the look of SFU. I wanted something that could show how epic SFU's grey walls were, so I decided on Pascal Campion's style, which is full of intense colour and emotion.

Assignment #6: Emotional Beat Board

This was based off of a smalll moment in my life. When my great grandmother died, my mom took it a bit hard; she told me that my great grandmother was like a mother to her, not just a grandmother. It was the first time I'd seen my mom actually cry.
